Candlewood Lake, 8.4 sq mi (21.8 kmĀ²), is located in Fairfield and Litchfield Counties in the Appalachian Mountains of Western Connecticut. It is the largest lake in Connecticut, and one of the largest man-made lakes in the United States. The lake is bordered by five towns: Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, and Sherman.

Fishing Description: 

Candlewood Lake has excellent fishing for both trout and bass. Smallmouth bass in the 3-5 pound range and largemouth bass in 5-8 pound range have been reported in the last few seasons.

Candlewood trout fishermem catch many browns and some rainbows in the 3-5 pound range and a few large brown trout that weigh 6-9 pounds.

The Squantz Pond arm of the lake has some large walleyes that measure more than 22 inches as well as plenty of large trout.

The lake also is excellent for catching perch and pike!
