Lake Information for Rising Sun Community Pond
Rising Sun is one acre in size and has a maximum depth of 11 ft. There are four benches near the pond where people may sit and fish. The shallow areas are covered with a rooted aquatic vegetation called elodea. This plant makes excellent cover for fish to live in, however the elodea is hard to control and can be a nuisance. Each spring a special dye is applied to the pond to control the elodea. This dye is biodegradable and is not harmful to fish or humans.
Rising Sun Pond is a standard bass/bluegill lake and is managed as such. Good numbers and sizes of largemouth bass and smallmouth bass and bluegills are present. Anglers should be prepared to use weedless lures to fish around the aquatic vegetation. Anglers may also catch other species including: white and black crappie, pumpkinseed sunfish, common carp and stocked trout during the spring.
From Baltimore/Annapolis - Take I-695 east to I-95 north, take exit (93) Rt.275 (Craigtown Rd), make right on Rt. 276 (Jacob Tome Memorial Hwy), make right onto Rt.273 (Rising Sun Rd), pond will be on left side of road before you enter Rising Sun.
