Description: 

Summersville Lake is a man-made reservoir located in the US state of West Virginia. The lake is formed by a rock-fill dam (Summersville Dam) on the Gauley River, south of Summersville in Nicholas County. It is the largest lake in West Virginia, with 2,700 acres (1,100 ha) of water and over 60 miles (97 km) of shoreline at the summer pool water level.

Fishing Description: 

Summersville Lake has good fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, channel catfish, crappie, and bluegill.

Trout are stocked from the dam 2 miles downstream. Access is by WV Secondary Rt. 129 east from U. S. Rt. 19 south of Summersville.

Directions to Lake: 

Summersville Lake is conveniently located close to US 19. From US 19 take Route 129 W to the dam, office and lake.
