Lake Information for Bowstring Lake
Bowstring Lake is a 9,220 acre lake located in Itasca County, Minnesota. It is connected to Sand Lake through a navigable channel.
Four public accesses are located around the lake: the first (locally known as the Oteneagen access) is located on the south end of lake, the second is owned by the Leech Lake Indian Reservation on the SW corner of the lake in Cow Bay, the third is located in the NW corner of the lake by the Northern Acres resort, and the last is located on the NE corner of the lake, approximately one quarter mile east of Bowstring Lodge.
Bowstring Lake has excellent fishing for walleye, northern pike, black crappie, and yellow perch. Other fish found on the lake include bluegill, bowfin, pumpkinseed sunfish, rock bass, shorthead redhorse, silver redhorse, white sucker, and yellow bullhead.
