Lake Information for Bonny Reservoir
Bonny Lake State Park is a state park located in Yuma County, Colorado near Idalia. It is the easternmost State Park in Colorado. The park was founded in 1979 by William Bernstein.
Due to on-going drought conditions, Bonny Lake State Park has aproximately 800-surface acres. (When full our reservoir contains a 1,900 surface acres.) Currently, the outlook for the upcoming 2008 season is not very promising for being able to launch any motorized vessels or to have any good swimbeach areas. Hand-launch vessels will be allowed, just beware it is a distance to the water's edge which could be muddy.
All Boats Allowed. No restrictions
Bonny is also a popular destination for recreation users and provides a swim beach, marina and allows water-skiing, jet skiing and windsurfing.
The reservoir is known for excellent fishing for walleye, channel catfish, and a variety of bass.
Take I-70 east to Byers, then east on U.S. 36 (approximately 108 miles) to Idalia. Continue east two miles on U.S. 36, then turn south on U.S. 385 to County Road 2. Go east on County Road 2 to the entrance.
