Lake Information for Boyd Lake
Boyd Lake State Park has something for all types of water recreationists in every season: boating, fishing and swimming in the summer and ice fishing and lake-side hiking in the winter.
All types of water craft- ski boats, fishing boats, personal water crafts, sailboats, canoes--use Boyd's 1,700 surface-acres of water in the spring through fall. Boyd also has a sandy beach and pavillion (including coffeeshop) for swimmers. Boyd also has a modern campground with 148 paved pull-through sites.
Boyd Lake State Park has three launch ramps: one or more ramps may be open depending on water level. Please visit Boyd Lake State Park's Boating page in the Park Conditions section for additional information.
Groups of up to 200 people can reserve Mariner Point group picnic area located on a secluded peninsular just north of the marina cove. This private area includes a covered pavilion, tables, fire grills, electrical outlets, food preparation countertops, water, sink, restroom facility, and a fireplace. A volleyball court, horseshoe pits and a playground area are located next to the covered facility.
From swimming to water skiing, Boyd Lake has water activities for everyone in the family. The Boyd Lake State Park swim beach provides cool relief on Colorado's warm summer days. A pavilion at the beach includes rinsing showers, restrooms,a playground and picnic tables. Float toys may be used in the buoyed-off swimming area. For the safety and enjoyment of our visitors, glass containers and pets are prohibited on the swim beach. Boats are prohibited within the buoyed swim area. Swimbeach area closed Labor May - Memorial Day.
Many anglers are attracted by the fishing opportunities, which include rainbow trout, walleye, largemouth and white bass, yellow perch, crappie, channel catfish and carp.
Although the Colo. Dept. of Public Health and Environment has found high mercury levels in walleye 29" or larger, smaller walleye and all other species have been found safe.
